Blazing Fire Cider. All Organic Ingredients: Onion, garlic, astragalus root, ginger root, orange peel, turmeric root, chili pepper flakes.

Organic Blazing Cider is a version of the well-known apple cider vinegar based tonic "Fire Cider." It is a tasty blend of slightly spicy, warming, organic herbs and spices including ginger, cayenne, and turmeric. It makes a delicious brew to help support overall health and well-being year-round, and is the perfect addition to your daily wellness routine. It can also be a healthful culinary addition to many recipes and drinks.

What is Fire Cider exactly?

The "Fire Cider" formula and name were coined by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar in the 1980s. The traditional tonic is a mixture of healthful herbs and spices including garlic, hot peppers, onion, and more. Those herbs are combined with apple cider vinegar, which infuses together for several weeks; and honey is added to the finished tonic. Rosemary taught her students how to make fire cider at the school she founded - The California School of Herbal Studies. She also published the tonic recipe in her very first book. It became so popular in part because it was made from common kitchen ingredients that were easy to find and inexpensive. It’s very simple to make, and tastes great, with just the right amount of sweet, sour, and spicy.

The "Fire Cider" recipe has since been adapted countless times over the last 40 years with hundreds of different variations. It has been sold by other herbal companies, cited in several books, and added to the winter health curriculum at many herbal schools. Rosemary Gladstar encouraged experimentation with the ingredients, and to make it your own. So, you can try adding any number of other herbs and spices to our Organic Blazing Cider blend to make your own unique versions of this delicious healthful tonic!

Serving suggestions for final product:

  • Straight up all year round, especially during the Winter Season.
  • You can mix it with lemonade, orange juice, or tomato juice.
  • Mix with hot water and extra honey to make a tea.
  • Use in place of vinegar in salad dressings and condiments.
  • Drizzle on steamed vegetables or sautéed greens.
  • Use in marinades, soups, and chili.
  • Try a couple of dashes in a cocktail, such as a Bloody Mary, and you can add a celery stalk or pickle spear to it!

Organic onion, organic garlic, organic astragalus root, organic ginger root, organic orange peel, organic turmeric root, and organic chili pepper flakes.

What you need:
• 16 fl oz of Apple Cider Vinegar (Organic/Raw)
• 1/4 cup of Honey (Local/Raw)
• Quart jar with lid
• Parchment paper for metal lid
• Large long-handled spoon
What you need once cider is ready to be strained:
• Mesh strainer/cheese cloth
• Large glass bowl
• 16 fl oz jar for finished cider
Daily serving size: 1 fl. oz.
Finished cider yields approx. 16 fl. oz.

Place 1/8 cup of the Organic Blazing Fire Cider Blend ingredients into the quart jar. For a stronger cider use up to 1/4 cup.

Pour in the apple cider vinegar covering all of the dried ingredients. Use the long-handled spoon to poke the herbs and spices down and continue filling with vinegar.
Cover the jar with a piece of parchment paper if using a metal lid to prevent corrosion. Screw lid on tight and shake well.
Shake daily and check after 2 weeks. Continue to infuse for 2-3 more weeks if you prefer a spicier cider. The longer you let it infuse, the hotter it will be.
Once cider is ready and hot enough for you, carefully strain off all liquid into a fine mesh strainer over the glass bowl. You can also use a cheese cloth to squeeze out more liquid.
If you wish, you can now add honey to your cider by starting with 1/4 cup and adding more to taste. Adding honey is optional.
Pour finished cider into a clean 16 fl. oz. jar and label.
Keep cider in a dark cabinet and use within one year from making it. Note that directions are also included.

Comes in a heat-sealed, food safe stand up pouch.
