Reduces stress, anxiety, depression, inflammation, boosts the immune system, circulation, musculoskeletal, & cardiovascular systems. Improves thyroid function. Internally & topically; it helps heal wounds, even the digestive tract, eczema & psoriasis. It is a diuretic.

Energetically: Cooling, neutral & balancing to all dosha types.

Taste: Sweet, bitter, astringent, pungent.

It is revered by many as a spiritual plant, used to open and align the crown chakra.

Warning: Use caution during pregnancy. As with other saponin-rich herbs, it might be inappropriate or should be dosed at low levels for people with fat malabsorption issues, deficiency of vitamins A, D, E, and K, some upper GI irritation & cholestasis (Mills and Bone, 2005). Symptoms of overdose include headache, dizziness, stupor, & bloody stools (Bastyr University, 2003).

For Tea: Barely boil 8 oz. water, add 1 teaspoon of the loose herbs (you can use a tea ball, french press, or other way to strain herbs or leave them in the tea for a super strong brew), steep 10 to 15 minutes. Sweeten with a natural sweetener if desired.

Nurture your body with a cup a day.
