Finding Hope Amidst the Storm: How You Can Help Hurricane Victims
Share
I don’t know about you, but these hurricanes have left me feeling small and helpless at times. Thankfully, Mike and I made it through Hurricane Milton without any lasting losses, but it has been a challenge.
Hurricane Milton did drop a tree on my sister’s house, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Right now, they don’t have power and are almost out of gas for the generator, which means they’ll soon be unable to power the well. They’ve been taking quick cold showers and conserving energy for their bearded dragon. The roof isn’t leaking, and she’s found someone to remove the tree, which is happening as I write this! If you’d like to help with these costs, you can Zelle funds to Heather at 352-638-3802.
While my sister’s needs are immediate, let’s not forget about the ongoing needs in North Carolina, our “heart’s home.” Hurricane Helene has devastated the mountains, and there’s still a pressing need for support in that area. I have contacts there—people I trust—who can ensure your contributions are used effectively.
Here are some ways you can help:
-
Send Your Love and Energy: Drum, dance, sing, pray, or meditate! We are a collective, and even if that’s “all we can do,” it is enough. It ALL helps, and no one is small! (Thanks for the reminder today, Chris B.!)
