West Indian Nettle - Ishanga
(Laportea aestuans)This dried, whole plant from the Amazon is used for improving blood circulation, and as a diuretic It is also used for general healing, headache, fever, burns, and dysentery. Nettle lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Helps treat the lungs, and encourages hair growth.
Preparation and administration:
Boil 8 oz water, add 1 teaspoon of the herbs (you can use a tea ball, french press, or other way to strain herbs if you don't want it to be as "earthy"), steep 15 minutes, drink warm or cool. Sweeten as desired.
Add to your hot coffee or tea, let sit 15 minutes, drink it up.
Start with one cup a day, increasing up to 3 cups a day if you want. The best results vary per person. You may need to drink it for a week or so to start seeing a noticeable difference.
