Chuchuhuasi (Maytenus macrocarpa). This is the last of the chuchuhuasi. We don't know if/when we will have it again.
Iquitos, Peru. Powdered. Wild-Crafted. This dried, ground tree bark is used to support stress reduction (emotional or physical) and a healthy libido, ease nerve damage, muscle tension, diarrhea, IBS, dysentery, arthritis, rheumatism, lower back & joint pain, bronchitis, bacterial and viral infections, to help promote a healthy body after childbirth. Has Alkaloids, tannins, coumarins, saponins.
You can apply the tea to skin or bath as an astringent and to nurture your skin during times of infection.
Chuchuhausi is one of the Master Teacher plants used in dietas. It is used to enter the spirit realm, especially if drank before bed.
Warning: Do not use if you have an estrogen-positive cancer. Drinking daily may bring on mensus.
Directions:
For Bath: To relieve pain or treat skin conditions.
As a seasoning, especially in rum.
For Tea: Boil 8 oz water, add 1 teaspoon of the loose herbs (you can use a tea ball, french press, or other way to strain herbs or leave them in the tea for a super strong brew), steep 10 to 15 minutes, drink hot. Sweeten with a natural sweetener if desired. Nurture your body with 1 to 3 cups of tea a day.For tincture: Add half a cup (100 grams) to 4 cups of preferred alcohol (vodka, rum, brandy) or vinegar. Let set 7 days or more. You can scale the recipe down, but be sure to use a container that you're filling up to the rim to prevent mold.
Take a sip 3 times a day. It's okay to add the tincture to a bit of juice to make it easier to drink. I suggest hold your breath and chug it and have a chaser ready.
