Lemon Verbana (Lippia alba). Common names: Bushy Matgrass, Lemon Verbena, Juanilama, Pampa oregano.
May ease colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis, fever, an upset stomach (especially when caused by over-eating), gas, gastritis, liver colic, diabetes, hypertension, inflammation, diarrhea, insomnia, heart problems, & balance tachycardia.
Commonly used in Costa Rica as an alcohol tincture to relieve rheumatism.
For Seasoning: In soups and cooked vegetables.
As a bath: To reduce fever and stomach pain.
For Tea: Barely boil 8 oz water, add 1 teaspoon of the loose herbs (you can use a tea ball, french press, or other way to strain herbs or leave them in the tea for a super strong brew), steep 10 to 15 minutes. Drink hot. Sweeten with a natural sweetener or lemon, if desired.
Nurture your body with 1 to 3 cups a day.
